Are You Truly Thankful?

I cannot believe that it’s been almost a year since I started my blog. When I look back at all the people who encouraged me to do it, I have to say that I am extremely thankful for their support and encouragement to do something I love. I never started this to make money. I did it as a way to speak to people who may be able to relate to the topics that pop up in my head from time to time. I am grateful that people have trusted me with their inner most feelings and thoughts and that is more valuable than money to me. (although making a few coins would be nice) LOL
I think it’s safe to say that 2016 has not been the best year for many of us…whether it was the loss of a loved one, , heartache, broken relationships or the reality that the Obamas are leaving the white house and being replaced with….well you fill in the blank. We have to find the positive in EVERY situation that seems so hopeless. So I ask, are you truly thankful for what God has done for you this year?
Let’s face it, its sooooo easy to see the negative in everything, but it takes a lot of heart to find the positive in the most devastating situations. Just think about it, we were spoiled with President Obama in office. Now that we have a new president-elect soon to take office, that has changed the game. It’s shaking people up. Now you might ask, “What’s the positive in this?” The positive is that change is the only way people grow. The more drastic the change, the more we learn how strong we are.
My challenge for you starting today is this: Instead of focusing on the obvious in every negative situation, look for the positive. We say God is in control right? We have to remember that God does EVERYTHING for a reason. Remember that it is perfectly ok to ask “Lord Why?” Believe it or not this question is an open prayer for God to answer. We often hear people say you should never question GOD. The reality is that God wants us to ask why and prepare our heart for an answer that He may, or may not give us. When God takes certain people out of your life, even though it hurts, we have to TRUST that God is working behind the scenes of our life. He is protecting us. We won’t see it right away, truth is we may never see it, but that is where TRUSTING in the LORD with all your heart comes into play.
I often hear people say, “I’m thankful to God for this, but….” But What???? You are either thankful or you are not. My challenge to you this holiday season and beyond is to make sure that you are TRULY thankful for all God has done and will continue to do in your life. In the mist of the storm, say Thank you Lord. I don’t understand it but Lord I Thank you, it hurts so bad and my heart is broken Lord, but thank you! It’s not easy to thank someone on the mist of your hurt, pain and sorrow, and we won’t always succeed; but my God when you are able to thank God through your pain, that’s when you know your strength and faith is growing.
One last important thing; you do know that you can just thank God for no reason at all right? Think about this, I can guarantee you that He is fighting battles you know nothing about! The things we take for granted, guess what God does that. So thank him in advance and acknowledge His presence!
In this holiday season, make sure that your thank you’s are true and heartfelt. Trust me it will go a long way! Happy Holidays to you all LMBB babes, I am TRULY THANKFUL for each and every one of you!
