What's Your Next Move?

At the beginning of each New Year we all make resolutions. Some say them out loud and other choose to keep the resolutions to themselves in case they are not successful. No matter what your personal approach is to conquering the New Year, make sure it’s YOUR approach; after all these are YOUR goals not anyone else’s. With that being said, here are few tips I have found helpful when it comes to achieving “New Year, New You” goals:

SET REALISTIC GOALS:

At the beginning of a new year we often are energized with the thought of having a chance to start over and become a better person. This is a great feeling to have but we often get caught up in setting unrealistic goals. Here are few a tips I used to help me achieve some of my goals. First, write down your ultimate goals. This will help you determine how to proceed. Next, identify exactly what it is you want to achieve for each goal. For example, what is your deadline for the goal to be reached, how many steps will it take you to get there and what are the resources needed to be successful. Be very specific. Don’t leave any detail out, no matter how small you think it is. Finally set small milestones and celebrate each one and remember that “baby steps, lead to be BIG moves.”

DON’T LET PRIDE STOP YOU FROM ASKING FOR HELP:

If you know someone who has been down the path you are trying to take and they have been successful, ask them for tips. You may be surprised at what they can offer you. If the person you ask is a hater, and don’t want to help, it’s ok, believe me there is someone out there willing to share their knowledge with you…keep asking God will lead you to who you need. Once you get your break don’t forget to lift others up along the way. As a people we have to be willing to help the next person, don’t look at it as competition, and look at it as building bonds, connections and possibly collaborations.

DON’T BROADCAST ALL YOUR MOVES:

Sometimes moving in silence helps you to become more successful. It allows you to listen to yourself and not everyone else’s opinion about what you should be doing and how you should be doing it. Making silent moves allows you to celebrate small victories and alleviates stress and anxiety. Trust me, when I started this blog thing there were only a few people I told about it, not because I was keeping secrets (it’s not really anyone’s business what I’m doing anyway) but because I needed certain people at certain stages of this journey to either encourage me to keep going or to be provide guidance. With that being said, choose your squad wisely, it makes a huge difference in your journey.

DON’T QUIT:

I know it can be hard at times and we want to give up, my advice to you is DON’T! It’s okay to take a step back when it becomes overwhelming. Sometimes a deep breath and a clear head can help you to come back stronger to tackle those obstacles that come with growth. Every plan we make for our lives will need some readjusting in order to work, and that is ok. Even if you have to start from scratch 22 times, keep going. Even small victories are VICTORIES! We have to learn how to be our own cheerleaders sometimes and that is what makes us strong; and when that is not enough, just know that I am always rooting for you! I cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store for us, so I leave you with this: Shoot for the stars, never give up and most importantly…

LIVE BLOUNT-ly
