Have you ever heard the saying “Get in, where you fit in”? Well this week I noticed that I was asking myself this question. Have you ever wondered where you “fit in”?
Newsflash people…figuring out where you fit in is not only for middle schoolers. As adults we find ourselves at different phases in our lives trying to figure this out. With so much time to think these days, I am faced with the task of self-evaluation. I constantly ask myself, what is it that I can be doing with this extra time God has blessed me with, to serve His purpose. What is Gods purpose for my life?
I don’t know about you, but I have family and friends around me in all phases of life. From becoming new parents, being first time home buyers, starting a business, being newly engaged, or becoming empty nesters; I have learned that life stages require you to determine where you fit, in people’s lives. These are dramatic changes that not only affect the people going through the stages, but those around them as well. These life changes can also cause changes in relationships. Anything from increased communication, to no communication at all. So where do you fit, in these new stages of life? Here are some things I have learned to do to get in where I fit in:
Be Supportive:
I love the saying when you win, we all win. I choose to believe this because I feel like anything positive that happens to those around me is a victory for me as well. Why not celebrate when others receive the blessings God has for them. What good will hating on them do? Your time is coming. Do the work and remain faithful.
Stay in your lane:
You can offer advice, but pick up on the signs whether someone wants it or not. Restrain from telling someone what they should do based on your own experiences. Remember your journey is not theirs. Your “humble opinion” may come off as jealousy, and ain’t nobody got time for that. Which leads me to my next point.
Accept your journey:
It may not be your time to get that new house, get married, or get that promotion. If you know like I know how good God is, you also know that his timing is perfect. When your Grandma used to say “He may not come when you what him, but He’s right on time” is so true…(insert hand wave witnesssss). Be still and know that God is there. Patience is a virtue.
Find peace:
Peace in knowing that the Lord hears your prayers. I know that during these crazy times, this is harder and harder to believe but guess what? The devil is a liar. God is good all the time, even when we can’t see it. If you are here reading this, God woke you up this morning. Gave you another chance to be great. Take advantage.
Celebrate your victory:
Never compare your victories to anyone else’s. You never know how many losses that person had to take to get to theirs. Again you have to thank God for the victories in YOUR life. Never overlook what God has done for you, to envy what He has done for someone else. That, my friend is where you miss YOUR blessings…
Getting in where you fit in, can be hard to see sometimes, but the good news is…you don’t have to fit in if you don’t want to…just remember to be thankful, pray often, and…
